EXPERIENCE THE SHADOWY SIDE OF THIS SPRING FLORAL WITH LILY OF THE VALLEY BY PARFUMS QUARTANA
The inspiration for our Lily of the Valley eau de parfum came in 2014 after I saw an episode of TV's Breaking Bad, where the protagonist deployed the noted flower of Springtime purity as a poison, which I found truly shocking. Most people (including myself) don't realize how deadly poisonous Lily of the Valley is, and equally surprising to me was that no one had done a lily of the valley perfume which acknowledged its deadly aspect, as I thought it would make for a fascinating fragrant experience.
Widely acknowledged to represent feelings of joy, lily of the valley traditionally marks a return to happiness and hopefulness for a prosperous Spring after a long winter. So to have seen it framed as a harbinger of death inspired me to acknowledge the flower's shadow side within the perfume as a counterweight to its brilliant white floralcy, adding a yang to the yin. It would be a white wedding in black leather boots.
This is by no means a celebration or welcoming of death; instead it's a means of imparting a "thorniness" to this sacred flower of purity in order to advertise the natural consequences for violating the inviolable.
Three years and more than 300 mods later with perfumer Nathalie Benareau, and Lily of the Valley by PARFUMS QUARTANA was birthed when we felt we couldn't improve the formula any further.
Lily of the Valley by PARFUMS QUARTANA eau de parfum is specifically for those who aren't normally drawn to lily of the valley. The namesake white floral springboards off of an unexpected deep rose and vetiver-infused leather, drawing attention to the darker, poisonous side of this otherwise innocent emblem of Spring joy.

Here in New York we say, "walk tall and carry a big stick," and so I like to think this scent imparts that kind of vibe in a subtle and tasteful way. I suspect this may be why it was a favorite perfume of the late, great Andre Harrell, a hip-hop mogul who launched Puff Daddy and Mary J. Blige among other talent, who discovered our Lily of the Valley at the PUBLIC Hotel's gift shop, and who kept coming back to buy bottle after bottle, the manager told me.
