Hemlock turns a white poison flower into a shining field of black PVC. Pink pepper flashes through Martinique rum and crushed green leaves. Glossy white florals and sea salt catch the light. Black vinyl, cinnamon bark, benzoin, vanilla, suede, and sandalwood hold the body in a polished, continuous charge.
Created with perfumer Christelle Laprade, Hemlock brings danger, pleasure, control, and surrender into one seamless composition. Its presence is sensual and commanding; its deeper movement belongs to mastery.

Hemlock feels like glossy black PVC warmed to body temperature: smooth, severe, intimate, and completely composed. Pink pepper and bergamot send flashes of brightness across rum and crushed leaves. White flowers gleam against salt and black vinyl while cinnamon, vanilla, benzoin, suede, and woods give the surface its heat.
Every element remains present as the fragrance moves across skin. The floral light stays inside the darkness. The vanilla remains beneath the PVC. Spice, mineral gleam, synthetic polish, and living warmth occupy one continuous field, creating the sensation of an extended ritual held at perfect tension.
The effect is alluring and self-possessed. Hemlock turns seduction inward, toward the moment desire becomes conscious and the wearer recognizes the source of the power.
For those drawn to dark vanilla, polished synthetic textures, spiced white flowers, and fragrances with psychological voltage.
Wear Hemlock when the shadow asks to be met directly—when desire feels vivid, danger feels magnetic, and you are ready to turn that force toward self-command.
After dark, in cooler air, against bare skin, paired with polished leather, or black PVC. Hemlock belongs wherever intimacy becomes deliberate and presence becomes power.
Wear the poison. Hold the power.
Hemlock began as a film in a green meadow. A young woman plucks the petals of a small white flower—He loves me. He loves me not. With every petal, a figure in black PVC jumps closer. He presents her with flowers. She accepts them. Then the image reverses: she takes control, places him on a leash and walks him like a dog, making his danger answer to her.
That power reversal gave us the perfume. The shining poison inside a Greek chalice became glossy black PVC. The white flower became an orchid-like field of vanilla and floral light. Cinnamon bark supplied the heat. Christelle Laprade translated that world into a continuous composition where danger and comfort, control and surrender, remain present together.
The story also carried a personal truth. When I created Hemlock, I was dealing with addiction issues. Beneath the conscious imagery, the fragrance gave form to a desire for respite, self-command, and a future in which I held the leash. Nine years later, I remain sober.
Hemlock stands as an authored object through which that future became visible: the shadow acknowledged, desire mastered, and vice converted into evidence of power.
— Joseph Quartana, Creator
“Hemlock eau de parfum starts with an accord which reminded me very strongly of when I used to open a new vinyl record and the smell of the fresh-pressed plastic would arise from the sleeve. Other corrupting influences like leather and rum show up as well. Then, a coterie of spices of clove, cinnamon, and pink pepper transform Hemlock from synthetic plastic to something more vital. A rum accord follows, melded with a synthetic white floral accord.”

Hemlock is one of the defining fragrances of Les Potions Fatales: a deliberately linear black-vinyl composition created with perfumer Christelle Laprade and refined over approximately two years.
Its central image is glossy black PVC laid over a bed of spiced vanilla. Martinique rum, pink pepper, white flowers, cinnamon bark, salt, black vinyl, benzoin, vanilla, suede, and woods remain present together as one continuous field.
The white hemlock flower carries the collection’s central deception—seeming purity concealing immense toxicity—while the perfume’s deeper story transforms danger into agency, desire into mastery, and the shadow into personal power.
Hemlock began with an unrealized film, a white poison flower growing innocently in a green meadow, and a female figure who transforms approaching danger into conscious power.
The full ORIGIN follows the story from Socrates’ poisoned chalice into downtown New York: black PVC, Japanese shibari, white orchids, spiced vanilla, the Velvet Underground’s Lower East Side geography, The Golden Filter’s pulse, Christelle Laprade’s first formula draft, and Joseph Quartana’s personal spell of self-command.

Created with perfumer Christelle Laprade and refined over approximately two years, Hemlock contains twenty-one accords. The formula is linear: every material contributes to one sustained image of a black PVC clad dominatrix on a bed of orchids.
Hemlock is one of the clearest moments in Les Potions Fatales where image, formula, and lived attraction became inseparable. Its apparent simplicity is the result of exacting construction: twenty-one accords shaped until black vinyl, white flowers, salt, spice, vanilla, and woods read as one commanding gesture.
Perfumer Christelle Laprade’s first complete composition arrived in approximately two weeks and captured the collection brief with startling precision. It was the first completed formula among the nine poison flowers to leave me awestruck.
The following two years were devoted to smoothing every tension into a seamless field—preserving the danger, warmth, synthetic shine, and floral light while allowing the whole composition to feel inevitable.
Rum, pepper, leaves, flowers, spice, black vinyl, salt, resins, vanilla, suede, woods, tonka, and musk move together as one deliberately linear perfume. The complexity remains beneath the polish.
