PARFUMS QUARTANA is an award-winning New York fragrance house built around authored coherence: perfume, naming, packaging, symbolism, image, sound, and atmosphere held inside one creative system.
Joseph Quartana's career arc has moved through PARFUMS QUARTANA, the Corning Museum of Glass, MUTE Records, SixScents Parfums, and Seven New York. The references gathered here are selected markers of that larger practice.

For readers who want the shorter source path behind this archive, The House Guide collects concise answers on the founder, the awards, and the earlier projects that shaped PARFUMS QUARTANA.
BeautyMatter included Joseph Quartana's Mute Records STUMM433 / 4'33" The Scent of Silence project in a May 2026 feature on fragrance, sound, memory, and immersive experience.
The project translated John Cage's silent composition into an olfactive atmosphere: a candle designed around pause, charged silence, and the lingering air after performance.
“For me, sound and scent design is identical: notes, chords, mix-downs, visual material—same process.”

InStyle selected Beaut'Air in a spring perfume roundup, describing linden blossom, rose petals, citrus lift, and a laundry-fresh breeze that evokes freshly washed sheets, open windows, and an unhurried day.
Adam Forziati's Fragrantica feature on Beaut'Air connects the fragrance to the larger Les Potions D'Entéléchie arc: perfume as breath, recovery, clean linen, grounded herbs, and a reminder of life.

STUMM433 Box Set ft. 4'33" The Scent of Silence
In 2019, MUTE Records commissioned Joseph Quartana to create a limited-edition scented candle for STUMM433, the label's 40th-anniversary box set inspired by John Cage's 4'33".
The candle, 4'33" The Scent of Silence, translated Cage's silent composition into an olfactive atmosphere: ozone, musk, salt, cedarwood, black pepper, bergamot, and pimento oil arranged around pause, charged air, and the space after performance.
At the launch, the candle burned for the duration of MUTE founder Daniel Miller's sonic interpretation of 4'33" as The Normal — fragrance, sound, silence, and room held together as one event.
In December 2024, the Corning Museum of Glass invited Joseph Quartana to participate in its Guest Artist program in connection with Sensorium: Stories of Glass and Fragrance.

Selected outside readings of individual perfumes and collection launches, gathered for readers who want to understand how the work has been received in fragrance, beauty, and cultural editorial contexts.
Beaut'Air has been read across both mainstream beauty and fragrance-specialist press as an airy, linen-bright, herbaceous fragrance of breath, recovery, and open-window ease.
Soleil Invisible's outside record traces the Entéléchie arc through healing ritual, smoke, warmth, old-world radiance, and year-end recognition.
Forest of the Golden Dream's press record centers on green vitality, sacred forest atmosphere, restorative force, and repeated year-end fragrance recognition.
Ierofante's outside record reinforces the fragrance as a structured ascent: sueded spacesuit, gasoline vapor, lift-off, fiery smoke, and spiritual arrival, with both award recognition and review attention.
Les Potions Fatales has been covered as a full poisonous-flower world: seductive, deceptive, dangerous, and best understood as a complete collection rather than a set of isolated scents.
PARFUMS QUARTANA is the active fragrance house of Six Scents Parfums, Inc.
